Health and Safety Information
Severn Catering Services undertake to carry out the work in accordance with the Company's Health & Safety Policy and Gas Safety Manual (a copy is available for inspection). It is also the intention of Severn Catering Services to carry out the work in accordance to BS 6173: 1990 and the 17th edition of the I.E.E. Regulations, relating to electrical installations.
Safe Contractor
In June 2011 our SAFEcontractor Accreditation was renewed, under the SAFEcontractor system, Severn Catering has undergone an external vetting process, which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice.
Darran Hughes ;Operations Director of SAFEcontractor said "Major organisations can no longer run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that thay have sound health and safety policies"
Altius Vendor Assessment
In January 2011 SCS became an accredited vendor, audited by the Altius VA in compliance with current contracts such as BHS / Arcadia. SCS have reached the exacting health & safety standards required for the major High Street retailers.
Training & Statement of Capability
All our engineers are fully qualified tradesmen. Our company is heavily committed to new product training - brought into force by regular bulletins, on-site training and manufacturers training courses. Severn Catering Services Ltd is a Gas Safe registered company and all our engineers are Gas Safe certified.
As with all Health and Safety issues due diligence along with an active documented positive programme must be evident. Regulation 35 of GSIUR out line an establishments obligations.
( GSIUR ) : Gas Safety Instalation and Use Regulations 1998
Regulation 35 of GSIUR : “ Requires employers to ensure that gas appliances, flues, pipe work and safety devices are maintained in a safe condition . They should be inspected by a competent person in accordance with current industry practice. Periods between inspections may vary depending on equipment and its use, and should follow manufactures recommendations, but as a general rule annual inspections will be a reasonable minimum frequency.”
“ In addition to duties to maintain appliances, flues and pipe work, Landlords must have all appliances and flues checked every 12 months by a Corgi registered business, and provide tenants with a copy of the report ( Landlords Gas Safety Record ) within 28 days. This applies to residential accommodation ( whether rented or occupied under a licence ) including Hotels, Guest Houses, Bedsits communal kitchens, tied accommodation, holiday boats, caravans and staff accommodation, even on industrial or other premises not otherwise subject to the regulations. So this duty may apply in certain areas of the hospitality industry. “
